The origins of Gdansk date back to the 7-th century. The millenium of the city was officialy celebrated in 1997. However, most of the historians date the founding of the city to around AD 980. The city has had a very big impact on Polish history. In fact, almost all historical conflicts started in Gdansk or because of it.
