OLD TOWN APARTMENTS
Warsaw is a unique city in the centre of Europe. It fascinates visitors with both its history and atmosphere. It arouses curiosity and fascination with its multifaceted culture.
Warsaw’s most characteristic feature is perhaps its abundance of contrast. On the one hand it may be experienced as a rapidly developing modern city – a metropolis pulsing with life and a place where trends are set. With the entry of Poland into the European Union in May 2004, Warsaw has been experiencing its biggest economic boom. It has become a center of business and culture for the whole country, with skyscrapers and other modern buildings continuously rising. The center of the city hosts many national institutions, goverment agencies, as well as many domestic and international companies.
This is however just one side of the city. On the other hand, Warsaw is an extraordinarily moving place in which to connect with the past. Even though numerous monuments in Warsaw had suffered heavy damage during WW II, they were masterfully reconstructed and today stand in the vicinity of buldings inspired by modern architecture. The Old Town, the Royal Castle or the former Jewish ghetto are all reminders of history’s unforgiving hand. Some of Warsaw monuments are highly valued by UNESCO. Moreover, the Old Town in Warsaw has been honored with an entry into the list of World Cultural Heritage. The city architecture well harmonizes with spacious squares, well-maintained parks and beautiful gardens. The Lazienki Park area with its amazing palaces and gardens is a favourite among Poles and foreigners alike.
Anyone can fall in love with Warsaw. One visit may not be enough as the city is a place where one will not be bored. Everyone can find something for themselves, no matter what their interests. With its unique atmosphere it is definitely worth spending a few days getting to know all the places in Warsaw that are worth knowing. Perhaps this is why majority of tourists are returning to enjoy the experience once more. The city has much to offer and if you haven’t visited it yet, now is the time!
