OLD TOWN APARTMENTS
Manchester is one of England’s most up to date cities, yet it has retained many reminders of its rich and varied past. At one time the city was the hub of the world cotton processing and weaving industry, a tradition that started in the 14th century when a community of Flemish weavers settled in the town. With excellent connections to the coast, via the Ship Canal, the city thrived and prospered.
The city has many fine buildings which bear testament to the city’s history as a great trading city, the Victorian Town Hall is one of the jewels in the crown of the city and is still the seat of local government. The city also has charming open spaces such as the Piccadilly Gardens.
As a cultural city, Manchester’s theatre going community is spoilt for choice, with many excellent companies in the city performing some wonderful buildings, including the Manchester Central Library.
With so much to see and do in the city, Manchester is not a place which induces boredom, rather the opposite – it is a lively city with an enviable scene to keep everyone happy.
